Encounters Film Festival 2023


Encounters is an annual film festival in Bristol that supports new and established filmmakers globally, emphasizing the importance of short films. It serves as a bridge between the film industry and audiences, celebrating creativity and diversity in short-form moving images while offering opportunities for talent development and collaboration. The festival features a competitive international competition, diverse programming, and educational components like panels and workshops with industry experts.

Earlier this year, we were asked to design the artwork for this year’s festival identity for Encounters. The design takes inspiration from film editing, emphasising flow and rhythm. It incorporates multiple layers of information, mirroring the complexity of a film production. The design takes viewers on a visual journey, inviting them to have their own encounters.

While the design is eye-catching on the streets, it also possesses flexibility, enabling its application across different mediums and formats.
